About this place
The signature Late-Night Monjayaki arrives with a generous heap of Chicken Ramen on the hotplate, making an impression as soon as it reaches the table. The ingredients, including finely chopped cabbage, are spread across the teppan and cooked until everything melds together. The noodles’ toasted aroma meets the dish’s rich seasoning for a satisfyingly moreish combination. Diners cook the monjayaki themselves, using small spatulas and adjusting the sauce to taste—a lively way for friends or family to gather around the hotplate.
By contrast, okonomiyaki, including the classic pork version, is cooked until fluffy in the kitchen and brought to the table ready to eat. There is no need to tend the heat, and the manageable size makes it easy to enjoy alone or share with others. The menu also includes beef tendon and spring onion negiyaki, modanyaki—okonomiyaki made with noodles—and omusoba, an omelette filled with yakisoba, so there is plenty of variety among the flour-based dishes.
Alongside the teppan dishes, popular choices include a tender rolled omelette generously flavoured with dashi and tonpeiyaki, an Osaka-style pork-and-egg dish. The drinks list ranges from draft beer, sours and highballs to Hoppy. It suits an izakaya-style evening: order a few snacks to share and linger over a drink.
Set along a street in Komooka, Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama, the restaurant has table seating as well as raised, sunken kotatsu seating. It opens from 17:00 and stays open late, with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Payment is cash only, so it is worth checking that you have cash before setting out.
